Turkey Orders
Skip the hassle by preordering your local holiday turkey from Ferndale Market or Slagel Family Farms. Turkeys at both farms are raised humanely without any antibiotics and given plenty of space to roam, eat and live their wonderful turkey lives. This means healthier, happier birds, and more flavorful poultry for your holiday table. Turkey orders can be placed from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20, 2024.

Thawing a Frozen Bird
To thaw in cold water: make sure the turkey is packaged in a leak proof bag to prevent bacteria from being introduced from the surrounding environment and so the turkey does not absorb any water. Thaw breast side down. Cover with enough cold water to cover your turkey completely. Change the cold water every 30 minutes and if turkey cannot be completely covered, rotated every 30 minutes to keep the turkey chilled. Approximately 30 minutes per pound of turkey is required to thaw. After thawing, cook immediately.
To thaw in the refrigerator: keep the turkey wrapped and place it in a pan. Let it stand in the refrigerator 24 hours for every 4 pounds of turkey. The giblets and the neck may be removed from the bird near the end of the thawing period. If interested in the giblets and neck for gravy, refrigerate until you are ready to use.
Please order your Turkey just in time for Thanksgiving and the upcoming holidays. Order now. We recommend picking up your order on Monday, November 25th by 9 pm.
